Time to Spend

Today I’m thinking through every way I enjoy spending my time, naturally leading me toward considering how little time there really is.

I’m incredibly fortunate to work in a meaningful, interesting, and lucrative field, where I spend nearly half of all awake moments. As far as normal life goes, I’m really lucky in this regard (and in many others).

I love spending time with my girlfriend, my friends, and my family. I love spending time running, working out, meditating, reading, and writing. In addition, I could name five passion projects that I want to see through completion.

  • A nonprofit called Exist With Initiative

  • A fiction duology called Letters to Aliens

  • A short series called Mission Control

  • A business called Purpose Pathways

  • A podcast called Casual Decisions

While I feel confident that these projects will come to fruition, there is another subset that I  often consider with less certainty.

  • A geology or planetary science graduate degree focused on a dual purpose asteroid deflection and harvesting mission

  • A space operations business focused on implementation of a sustainable training and career advancement architecture for Mission Control centers

  • A bartending education that could enable brief periods of change within a typically linear career path

  • A PMP certification that could provide me with the skills to execute programs of greater impact

  • Purchasing a flugelhorn and dedicating consistent hours to practicing, enabling a long passed musical dream

While I believe anything can be done with the right amount of time, energy, and resources, I don’t believe everything can be done. Every once in a while I’m saddened by this, but how fortunate am I to be able to pick from this lot?
